California State Agencies Release Guidelines on the Reopening of Schools and School Programs

Posted by Unknown | Jun 08, 2020 | 0 Comments

On June 5, 2020, the California Department of Public Health released interim “Industry Guidance” for the reopening of schools and school-based programs.  The guidance contains very broad recommendations and considerations for the restart of school programs and services.  Implementation of this guidance should be tailored for each setting, including adequate consideration of instructional programs operating at each school site and the needs of students and families. It can be accessed here: https://covid19.ca.gov/pdf/guidance-schools.pdf

On June 8, 2020, the California Department of Education released its own guidebook for reopening of schools, entitled “Stronger Together – A Guidebook for the Safe Reopening of California's Public Schools.”  The recommendations in this guidebook are more specific and detailed, with primary focus on public schools. It can be accessed here: https://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/he/hn/documents/strongertogether.pdf

In addition, the California Department of Industrial Relations has released Interim General Guidelines on Protecting Workers from COVID-19.  Though protection from airborne infectious diseases is already required by law, the guidelines provide easily accessible information for employers. This information can be accessed here: https://www.dir.ca.gov/dosh/coronavirus/General-Industry.html
