PRACTICE AREAS
Mr. Sarkany is a native Californian and former litigator with the U.S. Department of Justice and Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps. His diverse legal background includes both civil and criminal proceedings at both the trial and appellate levels. An accomplished advisor, Mr. Sarkany has counseled senior decisionmakers on a range of complex legal and policy matters. At Parker & Covert, Mr. Sarkany represents school and community college districts in litigation matters and conducts impartial employment and student investigations.
LEGAL EXPERIENCE
Mr. Sarkany most recently served as an immigration judge. Before that, he served as an appellate and trial attorney with the U.S. DOJ's Office of Immigration Litigation.
Before joining the U.S. DOJ, Mr. Sarkany served as counsel to a senior U.S. senator.
Mr. Sarkany is a navy veteran with ten years of service as a commissioned officer in the JAG Corps. During his decade-long service, Mr. Sarkany became an accomplished litigator in a variety of practice areas. He represented the Navy before the Court of Federal Claims and the U.S. district courts in complex suits brought under the Administrative Procedures Act, the Tort Claims Act, and the Freedom of Information Act.
